John Krasinski has taken to Twitter to announce that A Quiet Place “Part II”, has officially started production. Krasinski who was the co-writer, director and actor in the first film previously teased alongside co-star and wife Emily Blunt, that there will be a sequel in the pipeline. Please note, there are no spoilers if you have not watched the first film yet, though do yourself a favour and go watch it.
Due to the success of the first film, Krasinski went on record to say, “I really didn’t want to do the sequel. It was never built to launch sequels, which we all knew, and the studio knew too. But also, I’m a realist. I know that when you have a success like this, everyone wants to make another one. So I told them to go find another filmmaker and writer, and they said, but don’t you have an idea? I said, Yeah, I have a tiny idea, so they said, OK, while we’re talking to other people, keep thinking about it. They basically mind-tricked me into wanting to write it”.

Exciting new cast members to grace the sequel
Other cast members that will be returning for the sequel are Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds, the children of Krasinski and Blunt in the first film. Some reported new cast members for have been Cillian Murphy (Peaky Blinders and The Dark Knight Trilogy) and Brian Tee Murphy (Child’s Play and Atlanta). This will add some fine acting beef and if the Cillian Murphy negotiations all go to plan, he is just the kind of actor that can fit the premise of this movie perfectly.
I personally loved the first film, it was a very different take to horror movies, especially with how much influence sound makes in horror films in general for setting and intensity of moments. It was not your typical monster flick, it had fantastic depth, story, and scene by scene crafting, which lead to its success globally but still left enough in the tank for an expansive sequel to play with. On the other end, it also left you with questions as to the future of the characters and the world they live in, it made you think and wonder of different scenarios and theories for a next film, which was an absolute positive note. I definitely will be looking forward to the sequel and can’t wait to match up to my theories when the movie finally releases.
