Crystal Dynamics the developers of Marvel’s Avengers, have spoken in an interview with Eurogamer about the possibility of microtransactions, new heroes and levels in the upcoming superhero game and have officially confirmed there will be micro-transactions, but new heroes and levels come for free.

Marvel’s Avengers will feature five playable heroes: Thor, Captain America, Black Widow, Hulk and Iron Man. In Later updates, the roster should be extended to other superheroes including Ant-Man – at no additional costs.
Also, the game world will be expanded by new areas & are included in free updates.

Senior producer Rose Hunt has stated that “Yes, you will be able to equip your hero with different skins and outfits, but they never affect the gameplay. There will never be a situation where you have to pay to play. ”
Lootboxes and Pay2Win mechanics are out of the question, according to the developers. Therefore, the micro-transactions will be limited to cosmetic DLCs, such as skins, emotes and the like.
Marvel’s Avengers is set to release on 15 May 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia and Xbox One. The developers have also stated that the main campaign in the game will be accessible only in single player.
