Undead Labs has revealed the significant player numbers of State of Decay 2, which has five million active users and sees the base continue to grow steadily.
Despite the rather cold reception generally reserved for it by the critics, State of Decay 2 has immediately received great success with the public, expanding its user base continuously from its launch until today.
State of Decay 2 immediately reached one million players during the launch week, certainly thanks to Xbox Game Pass, but it proved to be able to establish itself further: within two months it had reached three million players and now, more than a year later the game has five million in total.
Speaking to Polygon – “We are really in a great position and we are able to expand the base with more players,” said Quin Richards, senior designer at Undead Labs, “We now have five million players and we are aiming for continued growth .” Undead Labs’ plan is, therefore, to continue supporting State of Decay 2 with additional content, as demonstrated by the recent launch of the Heartland expansion, which also responds to the community’s request for a greater concentration on storytelling.
On this path he intends to continue to invest the development team, finding a balance between the narrative additions to the world of and the maintenance of the typical survival structure of the game, with permadeath and procedural construction, all with the vision to go over 5 million players.
