Warner Bros has turned to David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick to write Aquaman 2, he also co-wrote the first one. Aquaman did phenomenally well and grossed a massive $1.1 billion worldwide, making it the second highest grossing Warner Bros. film of all-time & first DC title since 2012’s Dark Knight Rises to cross that mark at the Box Office. Aquaman remains in the top 10 at the box office in its eighth weekend of release racking up $328.4 million.
Aquaman director James Wan is likely to produce the sequel, but there’s a chance he might not return to the director’s chair however the success of the first one makes this a project he ultimately won’t want to turn down. Aquaman 2 will continue the story from the first film, and hinted at in the post-credit scene featuring the villainous Black Manta and Atlantis conspiracy theorist Dr. Shin.
